Next Chapter Editing is owned and operated by me, Diana Stephens.
I love everything about words, read a lot of books, write many hours a day, and edit written works for other authors. I love helping writers see their dreams of publishing their books come true.
It’s thrilling for them to see words from their characters on the page. This is what makes authors and editors–like me– love what they do.
My schedule is devoted entirely to reading, writing and editing, with the occasional trip to the grocery store, of course.
Third grade was when I discovered my passion for writing. My first story was about a horse who ran away from home. I’ve been writing ever since.
Working in the legal profession for over 20 years fine-tuned my abilities for editing. As a paralegal, part of my job was to edit documents before they left the office. These included deposition transcripts, pleadings, briefs and miscellaneous other legal writing.
I have turned that experience into the business of editing for people who write (authors), people who want to write (new or debut authors), and people who need help with writing projects they don’t intend to publish–usually students working on reports. My services also include polishing speeches or presentations for executives.
I graduated from Mars Hill University in Mars Hill, North Carolina with a B.S in Business.
In addition, I have completed several editing and writing certifications from local community colleges. Continuing education classes help me keep my language skills sharp.
